KING ZACHARY (c, 3, Curlin">Curlin–On My Way, by Giant's Causeway), after wide throughout when third on debut Nov. 10, had to check sharply in the opening furlong and shuffled to near the rear of the field in his latest here Feb. 24 before running on gamely between horses in the stretch to grab third. The heavy 4-5 favorite settled just to the outside of early leader New Legend (Kor) (Menifee) around the first turn. He went by that rival easily on the far turn and kicked clear in the stretch to a comfortable 7 3/4 length graduation. Indigo Yankee (Midshipman) rallied for second while New Legend (Kor) faded to third. King Zachary was a $550,000 Keeneland September yearling purchase by his connections and comes from the family of GSW-Ire Gaudeamus (Distorted Humor). Two-time winner On My Way is also represented by a juvenile colt by Noble Mission (GB) and a yearling filly by Street Sense. She visited Frosted last season.
