Courageismajority Headlines KEENOV

Courageismajority (Medaglia d'Oro), a 4-year-old mare carrying her first foal by MGISW Carpe Diem, received top billing during the 12th session of Keeneland November after selling to Hot Wire, acting as agent for Richard D. Schibell, for $125,000.

Friday's session saw 211 horses sell for $1,976,200 compared to 2015 when 175 horses grossed $1,754,500. The average of $9,366 was down from last year's of $10,026 and median was down from $6,000 last term to $5,000 this year.

Cumulatively, Keeneland has sold 2,382 horses for $213,684,200, a slight decrease from 2015 when 2,375 horses brought $217,740,000. The average of $89,708 is down from the 2015 average of $91,680 and the median of $32,000 was also down from $34,000.

Consigned by Upson Downs Farm, Courageismajority was purchased by Sagamore Farm for $260,000 at the OBS June sale in 2014 and won two of her nine starts for trainer Graham Motion. Bred in New York by Gallagher's Stud, the bay is out of MGSW Hostess (Chester House) and hails from the family of MGSW sophomore Cupid (Tapit).

The session's top weanling was a filly from the first crop of Airdrie Stud's Cairo Prince and out of the once raced Nakiska Moon (Malibu Moon). Bred by Mr. and Mrs. Troy Reed and consigned by Bill Murphy, the dark bay was purchased by Dubois Bloodstock for $65,000.

MGISW millionaire General Quarters (Sky Mesa–Ecology, by Unbridled's Song) was the highest-priced stallion of the day, bringing $50,000 from Omir H. Aydin. The 10-year-old, whose first foals hit the ground in 2013, was consigned by Pope McLean's Crestwood Farm, where he has been standing at stud.
