In an effort to aid in the response to the devastation caused at San Luis Rey Downs by the Lilac Fire, Coolmore and Mike Repole announced Friday a donation of a no-guarantee 2018 season to sire Uncle Mo, who stands for $125,000. “Everyone at Coolmore has been moved by what we have seen happen in Southern California and we hope by donating this season we will be able to provide some comfort to those who need it most,” said Coolmore America manager Dermot Ryan. All bids should be submitted in writing through the sales team at Ashford Stud (Adrian Mansergh-Wallace ([email protected], 859-327-8302) and copy Gary King ([email protected]) by Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 5:00 p.m. eastern. Proceeds raised will be donated to the horsemen and horses affected by the tragedy through the Horses First Fund administered by the Thoroughbred Charities Of America and founded by LNJ Foxwoods.

Another unrelated matching grant has been established by a pair of horsemen. For more on that, click here.
