Continued Growth For Ascot Sale

Sale-topping Late Date | Tattersalls Ireland

Tattersalls Ireland's Ascot February Sale, formerly conducted under the Brightwells banner, enjoyed growth for the third straight year when staged Tuesday. The aggregate of £266,600 for 59 lots sold was up 32% from last year; the average grew 41% to £4,519 and the median remained steady at £1,800. The clearance rate was 66%. Ten lots were sold for £10,00-plus compared to just four last year, and top billing went to lot 54, wildcard entry Late Date (Ire) (Oscar {Ire}), a 5-year-old winning point-to-pointer picked up by Micky Hammond for £23,000.

Tattersalls Ireland Director of Horses in Training Richard Pugh said, “Tattersalls Ireland Ascot Sales continues to grow, not just in strength but in quality. This is evident by the rise in key indicators for the third consecutive year. We now look forward to our flagship sale at Ascot, the Breeze-Up Sale, on Apr. 6.”
