Condor Heroes (Aus) (Not a Single Doubt {Aus}) romped by over nine lengths lengths in his 850-metre barrier trial at Randwick Monday morning, reported Racing and Sports. The Gerald Ryan trainee clocked :50.52–the fastest at the distance–out of 12 heats over the soft seven going and is one of the leading fancies for the 1000-metre Listed Breeders Plate, the first race of the season for 2-year-old colts and geldings held at Randwick Oct. 1. Conservation (Aus) (Choisir {Aus}), hailing from the Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott barn, also turned in a solid time for the distance in his heat, clocking :50.58. Godolphin, too, enjoyed a stellar day at the trials, sending out four winners, including the fastest filly of the day in Jorda (Aus) (Exceed And Excel {Aus}), who won by two lengths in the time of :50.98; and the colt Piracy (Aus) (Exceed And Excel {Aus}), who scored in :50.84.
