Stakes-winning 'TDN Rising Star' Coasted (Tizway), last seen finishing second in the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf

Nov. 4, has begun to prepare for her 3-year-old campaign, and the Leah Gyarmati pupil recorded her third breeze back at Gulfstream Tuesday morning, covering four panels in :48.81 (7/34) on the main track.

“She came out of the Breeders' Cup great,” owner Jeff Treadway told the TDN. “We chose to give her some time off to gear up for her 2017 campaign and turned her out for about a month before sending her to Florida. She had her first half-mile work this morning and went very easily in company with [4-year-old GSP colt] Strike Midnight (Smart Strike).”

Treadway said he and Gyarmati hope to have Coasted ready to run by the Mar. 4 GIII Herecomesthebride S. over the Gulfstream lawn. A debut fifth sprinting on the Belmont main track last July, Coasted has been kept on the infield since them, recording a dominant maiden breaker at the Spa in August before adding the P.G. Johnson S. there later in the meet. Third to New Money Honey (Medaglia d'Oro) in the GIII Miss Grillo S.

back down state Oct. 2, she outran 23-1 odds to just miss to that familiar foe at Santa Anita.

When asked if Coasted would be considered for a return to dirt with an eye towards the GI Kentucky Oaks, Treadway offered, “She works so well on dirt I wouldn't completely rule out a try in an Oaks prep. Having said that, since there are plenty of big opportunities for 3-year-old turf fillies with races like the [GI] Belmont Oaks, we will likely follow that path.”
