Bob LaPenta and Head of Plains Partners' Coal Front (Stay Thirsty) exited his victory in Saturday's GIII Gallant Bob S. at Parx with a condylar fracture, according to trainer Todd Pletcher.

“He'll have surgery tomorrow,” Pletcher said Sunday. “We're optimistic he can come back well from it. Obviously, we'll know more after the surgery.”

Coal Front won the first three starts of his career, culminating with a victory in the July 29 GII Amsterdam S. He suffered his first loss when fifth in the Aug. 26 GI H. Allen Jerkens S. and outkicked American Pastime (Tapizar) to win the Gallant Bob by a half-length Saturday.
