Casse Runners Breeze at Keeneland

Catch a Glimpse | Coady Photgraphy

Mark Casse trainees Catch a Glimpse (City Zip) and Valadorna (Curlin) each breezed at Keeneland Thursday morning as they prepare for their respective starts in the GI Breeders' Cup F/M Turf and GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies. Catch a Glimpse, who was a disappointing seventh in the GI Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Oct. 15, covered four panels in an easy :49.40 (16/20) on the dirt (video). “I thought it was good,” Casse told the TDN. “We always consider it a maintenance work where she was to go an easy half with no gallop out. You have to really kind of shut her down because she really wants to gallop out. She went fine. All systems are go.” Florent Geroux has piloted last year's Canadian Horse of the Year in each of her last nine starts, including a victory in the 2015 GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, but had already committed to Sea Calisi (Fr) (Youmzain {Ire}) for the Breeders' Cup. Javier Castellano will climb aboard Catch a Glimpse next Saturday. Team Casse also sent out 'TDN Rising Star' Valadorna to a :48.30 (11/20) spin. The Stonestreet homebred will take a steep step up in class next week off a visually impressive six-length maiden-breaking score at Keeneland Oct. 7.
