Sale & Stallion Assistant

Darby Dan Farm currently has an open position for an assistant in our Sale and Stallion departments.

Candidates will be an active participant in both departments based at the farm office in Lexington, KY.

Responsibilities in the Sale department will include attending sales, owner correspondence, vendor communication and paperwork for sale entries.

Duties for the Stallion department include booking mares and assisting with stallion syndicate administration.

Interested candidates should have knowledge of the Thoroughbred industry and a strong attention to detail.

The position will have weekend requirements during sales and the breeding season with primary responsibilities Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm.

As a full-time position, benefits will include paid time off, health insurance and 401(k) program.

This is a unique position with flexibility for the right candidate.

  • The Role The General Manager will lead the company at Executive level. The successful candidate will
    report to the Board of Directors. While having primary responsibility for day to day operations, a

    • Deliver short term & long term strategic goals for the entire Naas Racecourse business comprising of traditional racing events & commercial non race day activities.
    • Developing the brand of Naas Racecourse.
    • Preparing, monitoring & controlling race day activities.
    • Oversight of all capital projects & improvement works.
    • Promotion of Naas Racecourse locally, nationally & internationally as required.
    • Fulfil Company Secretary function on behalf of Naas Race Company PLC.

    The Person

    The ideal candidate will need to be adaptable & flexible with an ability to think critically & strategically. Desirable attributes should include:
    •Experience at senior management or similar level, prior racing industry experience a distinct advantage.
    • Strong business acumen, commercial leadership, strategic thinking, service delivery, industry knowledge, and an ability to influence at the highest level.
    • Professional approach and positive attitude in dealing with key stakeholders.
    • Relevant 3rd level degree an advantage.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.

A good foundation in website creation an additional plus. Ideal candidate will possess strong IT, marketing and digital media skills. The Facility Director and Trainer is responsible for running and overseeing the operations at New Vocations' Mereworth Facility in Lexington, including both the rehabilitation and training barns, which house 60-70 retired racehorses. The position manages all barn staff, ensuring that the day-to-day care, rehabilitation and training of the horses as well as facility maintenance is held to a high standard. The Director is responsible for ensuring each horse is properly rehabilitated, receives transitional training and ultimately is adopted into a suitable home.
