PYRON (c, 3, Candy Ride {Arg}–Tapatia {SP}, by Tapit) took his record to two-for-two with a first-level allowance score in the slop at Oaklawn Saturday. Breaking on top, the 5-2 shot settled in a close-up third, just a neck off the dueling leaders through a first quarter in :22.07. Sticking his nose in front as the half went up in :45.31, the homebred was three wide turning for home and kept on finding to splash home 2 3/4 lengths clear. Stablemate You'vesaiditall (Lookin at Lucky) rallied for second on what was a very productive afternoon for the Steve Asmussen barn. The winner, who earned an 87 Beyer Speed Figure for a 3/4-of-a-length victory over track and trip Feb. 24, has a 2-year-old full-brother named Tap Attack and a yearling half-sister by Will Take Charge. His dam was most recently bred to Carpe Diem. Pyron shares his GSW/GISP second dam Call Now (Wild Again) with Grade I winner and sire Tapizar (Tapit). Sales history: $15,000 2yo '18 EASMAY. Lifetime Record: 2-2-0-0, $110,400. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
