'Cadeaux' Loses Shoe in Sunday Gallop

Red Cadeaux | Racing Post

Well-traveled G1 Melbourne Cup stalwart and G1SW Red Cadeaux (GB) (Cadeaux Genereux {GB}) is “a bit tender” after pulling a shoe off in a Sunday morning gallop at Werribee prepping for the Nov. 3 G1 Melbourne Cup according to Ed Dunlop's assistant Robin Trever-Jones. The 9-year-old sports three runner-up finishes in four tries in the Melbourne Cup, with only an eighth-place finish in the 2012 edition interrupting his in-the-money skein and is back for his fifth try to finish the job. He reported home third in the G3 Geoffrey Freer S. at Newbury Aug. 15 before entering quarantine.

“It's nothing new, just a pain in the backside as he's galloped o nit with no shoe or no pad,” said Trevor-Jones to www.aapmegaform.com.au. “It will be a bit tender, but we know what to do and we can get him thorough it. If he's feeling good, his back is good, he reaches too far and catches under those pads. But he has to have those pads on because he's got big flat feet.”
