Hugh Bowman, the 2017 Longines World's Best Jockey and rider of Winx (Aus) (Street Cry {Ire}), will be on the sidelines until partnering the 6-year-old mare in the Apr. 14 G1 Queen Elizabeth S. Bowman suffered a severe concussion when falling from Performer (Aus) (Exceed and Excel {Aus}) in the G2 Todman S. on Mar. 10, and sat out a week before returning to ride Winx to win last weekend's G1 George Ryder S. (and Performer in the Golden Slipper-that one beat just two home). Bowman was riding at Warwick Farm on Wednesday but was stood down after it was determined he was suffering from concussion after effects and a subsequently discovered viral infection. Bowman will need medical clearance to ride Winx in two weeks' time.
