CYPRIANA (f, 3, Bodemeister–Queens Full, by Indian Charlie) was a $90,000 weanling purchase at the Keeneland November sale before being bought for $300,000 as a yearling at Keeneland September. She entered off consecutive bullet works over the local main track with most recently going five furlongs in 1:01 2/5 (1/11) Jan. 5. The 3-2 favorite broke smoothly from her outside gate and rated three wide down the backside. She continued in that path around the far turn and drew even with pacesetter Umetuka (Midnight Lute) at the quarter pole. Cypriana got by that rival with ease before holding off a game firster Cilantro (Distorted Humor), who had a rough break, to score at first asking by 1 1/4 lengths. Cilantro was 4 ½ lengths to the good of Umetuka, who held on for third. The winner is a half to Goin to the Window (Tapit), SW, $128,993. Cyprianan's third dam, Too Chic (Blushing Groom {Fr}), was a MGISW herself and also produced 1991 Champion Older Mare Queena (Mr. Prospector) and GISWs Brahms (Danzig) and Chic Shirine (Mr. Prospector). Queens Full has a yearling filly by Empire Maker and visited Frosted last season. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $25,800. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
