+BLUE CREEK (GB) (c, 3, Street Cry {Ire}–Blue Bunting, by Dynaformer), the first foal out of his triple Group 1-winning dam, lived up to expectations to record a facile debut score on the dirt in Dubai. Away a few steps slow, Blue Creek gradually made up ground down the backside while racing off the rail to sit about four lengths off the lead as the field headed into the turn. Making a three-wide rally around the bend, Blue Creek put his head in front approaching the 300 meter mark and drew clear thereafter to win by five lengths under hand urging in a final time of 1:38.28. Tobaco (Arg) (Roman Ruler) stayed on for second. “I am in a great position with so many nice horses to train,” said trainer Charlie Appleby. “This fellow has plenty of ability and a great pedigree. He will only improve with time and the further he goes the better he will be.” Appleby revealed Blue Creek would likely bypass the UAE 2000 Guineas and instead target races on Super Saturday and World Cup night. “I doubt we will go for the UAE 2000 Guineas trial or the big race itself,” he said. “The Al Bastakiya on Super Saturday and UAE Derby would be possibilities because the trip will suit him much better. It is a great way to start the year.” Blue Bunting won the G1 1000 Guineas, G1 Irish Oaks and G1 Yorkshire Oaks in 2011 for Godolphin. Her newly turned 2-year-old is a filly by Dubawi (Ire), and she has a yearling colt by New Approach (Ire). Click for the Emirates Racing chart and video. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, AED75,000.
