+MARAUD (c, 2, Blame&log=">Blame–Unbridled Empire, by Empire Maker), sent off the 7-5 favorite, settled in mid-pack and was seven lengths off the pace through a half in :48.42. He rallied three wide into the stretch, gained command with a furlong to run and drew clear to score by two lengths. Desert Stone (Ire) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}) was second despite lugging in late. Maraud is a half-brother to GII American Turf S. winner Arklow (Arch, GSW, $245,987). Unbridled Empire, a half-sister to Grade I winners Cindy's Hero (Sea Hero) and Fourty Niners Son (Distorted Humor), produced a filly by Flatter in 2016, a colt by Will Take Charge in 2017 and was bred back to Runhappy. Jeff Treadway, bidding alongside bloodstock agent Charlie Boden, purchased Maraud for $375,000 at this year's Midlantic Juvenile sale after the colt worked a furlong in :10 1/5.
