Takaful was dismissed at 12-1 off a steady local worktab for this debut, but came out running to be named the newest 'TDN Rising Star'. Right to the lead, the Sheikh Hamdan homebred zipped through swift splits of :21.97 and :44.96 while getting away a bit along the bend. Oxford Circus (Macho Uno) tried to keep up with the pacesetter hitting the quarter pole, but there was no catching Takaful–he cruised away powerfully to run up the score to eight lengths. Oxford Circus held second, clear of favored second timer Big Hansome (Street Boss). Takaful is the first foal out of an unraced daughter of Teeba, MSP in England and a half to GSW Bint Shadiyad. Third dam Shadayid was Europe's champion 2-year-old filly of 1990, and annexed the G1 One Thousand Guineas the following year. Sablah has a yearling colt by Medaglia d'Oro and a weanling colt by Daaher. She was bred back to Hard Spun this breeding season. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $45,000.
