In the wake of a Nor'easter that struck the area Wednesday afternoon and evening and with dangerously high winds forecast throughout the day Thursday across Long Island, racing at Belmont Park was canceled early Thursday morning. Though rains associated with the storm have cleared the area, the National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for Thursday, with strong sustained winds and potential gusts of up to 55 mph. Aqueduct Racetrack and the Belmont Café were to remain open for simulcasting and online wagering is available through NYRA Bets. Live racing is scheduled to resume at Belmont Friday, Oct. 18 with a first post of 1:15 p.m.
