Bellamy Road Filly Takes the 'Land' Route to the 'Sea'side

Bellamy Road | Louise Reinagel

LAND OVER SEA (f, 2, Bellamy Road–Belle Watling, by Pulpit), a debut second at Los Alamitos July 12, garnered 3-5 favoritism to go one better over this extended trip and rewarded her backers with an open-length score. The chalk sat in a patient fourth against the inside as She's On the Line (Line of David) provided the perfect tow on the front end, through splits of :23.37 and :47.99. Angled off the rail turning for home, the chestnut pounced four wide up the center of the course after six panels in 1:12.66 and powered away to win in dominating fashion by 3 3/4 lengths. She's On the Line held on gamely to be second. The final time for the mile was 1:36.74. It was the third win on the card for Paul Reddam, who campaigned GI Kentucky Derby and GI Preakness S. hero I'll Have Another (Flower Alley). Land Over Sea is a half to War Story (Northern Afleet), MGSP, $268,600. Belle Watling foaled a colt by Elusive Quality in 2014. She was bred to Curlin for 2016. This is the extended family of French champion and MG1SW Green Forest (Shecky Greene), as well as U.S. champion juvenile filly Epitome (Summing), winner of the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies.
