Barretts Yearling Sale Tuesday

The Barretts Select Yearling Sale, featuring a catalogue of 77 head, will be held Tuesday at Del Mar with bidding beginning at 2 p.m. PT. During last year's inaugural August sale, 44 yearlings sold for $1,629,000. The average was $37,023 and the median was $32,500. A filly by Tapizar and a colt by Harlan's Holiday shared the auction's top price of $90,000. A half-sister to the Tapizar filly by Lemon Drop Kid sells this year as hip 33. Lucky Pulpit, the sire of Horse of the Year California Chrome, has seven yearlings catalogued in the one-session sale. Other stallions represented in the catalogue include Ghostzapper, Pioneerof the Nile, Shackleford and Union Rags. Results of the Barretts sale will appear in Thursday's TDN.
