Ayr Gold Cup To Be Run At Haydock

Ayr's waterlogged course | Racing Post

The Ayr Gold Cup, which was lost this weekend after Ayr Racecourse was forced to abandon its entire three-day meeting due to waterlogging, will be run Sept. 30 at Haydock Park Racecourse. Details including the race value and entry procedures will be released on Monday, and 32Red will be the new sponsors of the race.

Richard Wayman, Chief Operating Officer for the BHA, said, “We are delighted that the Ayr Gold Cup–which is such an important betting race–has been saved and will be run at Haydock on Sept. 30. Great credit and a thanks must go to the new sponsors 32Red, the Horserace Betting Levy Board and Jockey Club Racecourses for their financial support and ITV Racing for agreeing to incorporate the race to their schedule.”

Kirkland Tellwright, North West Head of Racing for Jockey Club Racecourses and Clerk of the Course for Haydock Park, said, “We're pleased to be able to support horsemen and host the Ayr Gold Cup at Haydock Park following the unfortunate abandonment of the fixture. 32Red sponsors a number of major races at Jockey Club Racecourses and we're delighted that they have been able to lend their support to this special race. Our TENsational Finale Day next Saturday is an exciting card with plenty of top class runners lining up.”
