As One Chapter Ends Another Begins

Criquette Head-Maarek And Treve | Scoop Dyga

Retirement from the racetrack now beckons for Treve (FR) (Motivator {GB}) as connections consider her future career as a broodmare. The wonderful filly was unable to bow out her racing career on a high and although she ran a brave race to finish fourth one gets the feeling that she just wasn't quite at her brilliant best on Sunday. Reflecting on her display under Thierry Jarnet, Criquette Head-Maarek commented, “There is no disgrace in being beaten by Golden Horn. He was the Derby winner and there are no excuses. Before the race I was scared of the winner, New Bay and Flintshire and they have filled the frame. In racing there are some you win and some in which you get beat, that's the game we are in.” Echoing these thoughts was Harry Herbert, racing manager to Sheikh Joaan Al Thani and he said, “I think Sheikh Joaan would say it's such a privilege to have owned her and she'll go on now to the stud and hopefully be a wonderful broodmare.” Following Treve's brief retirement last year it was understood she would be covered by Dubawi and it appears that may well still be the case for early 2016.
