S. and GI Matriarch S. heroine Heat Haze and therefore a half-brother to the G3 Jersey S. third and G3 Thoroughbred S. runner-up Forge (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}), was sent off the 7-4 joint-second favourite and raced in mid-division throughout the early stages. Wound up from a long way out by Ryan Moore, the bay responded willingly towards the far rail and ground down Tafaakhor (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}) in the last 50 yards for a half-length success. Sir Michael Stoute's representative George Galecki said of Mirage Dancer, who becomes the 18th winner for Frankel, “He's still a bit green but it was first time out, obviously. Looking at that he needs further, but you'd have to be happy with that. We'll all be awaiting further improvement. Ryan said he stayed on nicely, but when he hit the front he pricked his ears.” Mirage Dancer is a grandson of the remarkable Hasili (Ire) (Kahyasi {Ire}), whose tally of top-class performers puts her right up with some of the finest matriarchs in recent turf history.
