Anglesey Success For Power's Peace Envoy

Peace Envoy | Racing Post

In the way of the tough and hardy juveniles of the recent past from the Ballydoyle stable, Peace Envoy was out early over five furlongs and duly beat King Electric (Ire) (Elzaam {Aus}) on his introduction on Dundalk's Polytrack Apr. 8 before failing by a half length to give that Ger Lyons runner five pounds when they met again in a conditions race over the same trip here May 2. Upped to six for the Listed Rochestown S. at Naas May 29, the bay made all there despite giving a scare late on when jinking into the rail, after which Aidan O'Brien described him as a work in progress. Sent to the G2 Norfolk S. at Royal Ascot with the Coventry-bound Caravaggio (Scat Daddy) clutching the number one status, he was a game fourth in that June 16 five-furlong test, beaten barely more than a length when looking in need of a rise back up in distance. Peace Envoy, who was the first winner and first black-type winner for his first-season sire (by Oasis Dream {GB}), was no match for King Electric's stablemate Medicine Jack (GB) (Equiano {Fr}) when second in the G2 Railway S. over six furlongs back at this venue last time June 25 and was subsequently overlooked by the punters with all the hard cash coming for another Lyons trainee in Psychedelic Funk. Held up behind the leading trio early, Ryan Moore looked more than comfortable heading past the two-furlong pole where TDN Rising Star Radio Silence (War Front) briefly flattered. Delivered with a telling surge to gain command 150 yards out, Peace Envoy soon had the race under wraps to bring up a 10th renewal for Aidan O'Brien who made a significant comparison afterwards. “He reminds me very much of Rock of Gibraltar. Knowing “Rock”, he's very much like him, although he has a long way to come obviously,” the master of Rosegreen said. “He's getting better this horse and is progressing well. He's a big horse and every week he is getting better. He's getting bigger and stronger and his mind is coming lovely. He could come back here for the [Aug. 7 G1] Phoenix Stakes if Caravaggio doesn't come or he could go for the [G1 Prix] Morny [at Deauville Aug. 21]. On today, you wouldn't say he wouldn't get seven furlongs.” Peace Envoy, who is a half-brother to the G3 Prix des Chenes third and Czech champion Kadyny (GB) (Zamindar) and this year's Listed Bremer Derby-Trial runner-up Our Last Summer (Ire) also by Zamindar, is out of a half to the G3 May Hill S. third Everlasting Love (GB) (Pursuit of Love {GB}) who descends from Excellent Alibi. She is a half-sister to the brilliant racemare and outstanding producer Dahlia (Vaguely Noble {Ire}), who scored an amazing 10 times at the highest level in four countries including the Irish Oaks and twice in the G1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth S. Her progeny list is headed by the group 1-winning sires Dahar and Rivlia, while her family also features the G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe-winning sire Rail Link (GB).
