Ami's Mesa, tabbed as a 'TDN Rising Star' after posting a sensational eight-length debut win at Woodbine Oct. 12, ran to her even-money odds to remain perfect in Saturday's Glorious Song S. Placed in midpack after a bit of a slow break, she awaited racing room as She'll Do It led through a quarter-mile in :23.48. Swung out widest of all in the stretch, Ami's Mesa turned in an eye-catching rally down the center of the track to win going away. Conquest Babayaga also closed well, but was simply outfinished by the winner. “I certainly had some anxious moments,” commented winning owner Ivan Dalos. “She didn't break well at all. I wasn't sure she was going to get there, but she has an [awfully good] finishing kick. She did it.” The winner is a half-sister to Ami's Holiday, who won this venue's GIII Grey S. as a 2-year-old and the the Breeders' S. one year later. She is also a half to Victory Exchange, a lightly raced sprinter who recently returned from an extended layoff to annex an optional claimer here Nov. 15. Victorious Ami is also responsible for an unnamed yearling colt by Exchange Rate. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
