American Pharoah, sire of Royal Act | Coolmore

9th-Del Mar, $53,404, Msw, 11-10, 2yo, 1mT, 1:37.32, fm.
ROYAL ACT (c, 2, American Pharoah–True Feelings {GSP, $111,205}, by Latent Heat) overcame a wide berth to triumph in his career debut at Del Mar Sunday. Quickly away from the stalls, he tracked a moderate early pace from third and continued to keep a close eye on the frontrunners until being given the cue by Rafael Bejarano approaching the quarter pole. Determined, the powerful bay forged to the front midstretch and proved best on the day, winning by a half length over Much More Halo (More Than Ready) with Special Day (Tiznow) back in third. The victory represented the 23rd winner for his freshman sire (by Pioneerof the Nile). True Feelings is a half-sister to Flirtatious (A.P. Indy), the dam of Champion 3-year-old Filly Wait a While (Maria's Mon). This represents the family of Champion 2 & 3-year-old Lookin At Lucky (Smart Strike). True Feeling produced a filly by Into Mischief last season and was bred back to Justify this term. Sales history: $500,000 Ylg '18 KEESEP. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $31,200.
