Mr Stunning (Aus) (Exceed and Excel {Aus}), the top-priced lot at the 2013 Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale, stamped himself as a horse of tremendous promise with an improbable debut success at Happy Valley Racecourse Wednesday evening. Sent off the 17-10 favorite off some outstanding trials, including one such victory from near the pace at the city track Jan. 16 (video), Mr Stunning was ridden back in the field from third last and was the better part of 10 lengths behind as they hit the 400-meter marker. But, pulled out by Karis Teetan, the bay took flight in the stretch and ran down Mr Right (Aus) (Statue of Liberty) by a neck (video). With Fervour, a daughter of US MGISW and 1985 Kentucky Oaks victrix Fran's Valentine and therefore a half-sister to the popular gray galloper and MGISW With Anticipation (Relaunch), was sold for 65,000gns at Tattersalls December in 2003 and was exported to Australia. She was subsequently let go for A$6,000 at the Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale in 2013 barren to Purrealist (Aus) and passed away 10 days after foaling a filly by Mossman (Aus) in October 2014. @EquinealTDN
