The TDN has solicited the opinions of some prominent figures on the European bloodstock scene to answer three questions about the upcoming Flat season. Our first installment features the thoughts of bloodstock agent Ross Doyle of Peter and Ross Doyle Bloodstock:

1) Horse you are most looking forward to seeing this season?

RD: Tashaar (Ire) (Sea the Stars {Ire}) could be a very exciting horse this season, he will be stronger which should be a big help in the top staying races. He was very impressive winning his first two starts and then ran very well in two top staying races later in the season. Also, his breeding would suggest he will get better with age, being by Sea The Stars out of a black type mare by Montjeu (Ire) called Three Moons (Ire).

2). A stallion who could feature prominently (doesn't have to be first season)?

RD: We are big believers in Canford Cliffs and his stats back him up with a very high number of individual winners to his name in his first crop. On top of that, he has the top-class performers in Painted Cliffs (Ire) and Most Beautiful (GB) to go to war as 3-year olds. We also like the type of horse he gets–nice size, great movers and good temperaments, which has to be a big plus to breeders looking to give their mares good opportunities to breed the right type of horse.

3). Positive change you would like to see for the industry in 2016?

RD: Anything that can be done to encourage owners new or established to keep investing in our great sport. Whether it be improved prize money or improving the owner experience from start to finish, they are the life blood of the business and we can never do enough for them. They ultimately promote our business, good or bad, locally and globally, so they are the most important part of the chain.
